Properties in Borovets |

| "Gorna" means "high" in Bulgarian. The village of Gorna Vasilitsa
lives up to its name. Situated high on the mountainside above the town
of Kostenets, the village commands a stunning view over the valley below
and Bulgaria's highest peaks, the Rila Mountains, on the opposite
side. Gorna Vasilitsa is a sleepy hamlet. There are no shops or bars, and the loudest sounds you're likely to hear are birdsong and crickets. Only 7km away, however, is Kostenets, a significant town, reached by a very fast, wide road down the mountain, where you can find anything you want. At the foot of the mountain, only 5km distant, is a large supermarket. |
Another road out of the village winds its way tortuously down 5km to
the famous resort of Momin
Prohod, Bulgaria's second most important health
spa. It has a sanatorium for adults and a specialised children's sanatorium. Momin
Prohod and Kostenets are on the railway line between Sofia and Plovdiv,
so the apartments can be reached easily without a car. Gorna Vasilitsa is about an hour's drive from Sofia airport by the motorway. In the coming years a new motorway spur is planned to run nearby over the mountain to Borovets, 33km away, cutting the travel time considerably. The village is also only 8km from the planned major golf course at Dolna Banya, and 15km from the village of Kostenets on the other side of the valley, where there are ski pistes and lifts. |
