Several of the members of the Initiative Committee on the Super Borovets Project spoke with the NMSII leader yesterday in his office. They informed him of the progress of the project and of the fact that it was time to consider juridical finalisation of the documents, which would allow the positioning of ski lifts. The ski lifts are planned to pass over the land restored to former Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He gave his permission some time ago ,but the documentations had still to be finalised. “Mr. Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was interested in the progress of the project and we informed him,” Samokov’s mayor Angel Nikolov stated for the FOCUS News Agency.
The plan was issued by a team of architects, lead by Petko Evrev, and will follow the requirements of the Law of Encouragement, according to which the infrastructure will be provided by the state. The plan foresees the opening of a Tourism College in the town of Samokov, and is consistent with the Bulgarian candidacy to host the Olympic Games in the year 2014. The Super Borovets concept will be implemented in three steps. The first stage is to be completed in the year 2007, by which time the accommodation capacity of the resort will be doubled. New gymnasia and swimming pools will be built. The second stage will start when ownership rights have been finalised. At this stage the plan envisages new hotels and ski runs in the triangle enclosing Beli Iskar, Samokov and Borovets. Thereafter, during the third stage, will start the construction of
new sites at 1,400m above sea level. Because of the altitude and the
sparse terrain, only holiday villages and small hotels will be allowed
there. Details about price madness in Bansko, golf developments in Bulgaria,
and new apartments in Bansko and Borovets can be seen at the Bulgaria
